Her spending mires France in debt, while the Affair of the Diamond Necklace and the machinations of the scheming Duchess of Polignac further aggravate public sentiment toward the monarchy. <end> <start> As the revolution intensifies, {{char}} is unable to ignore the suffering of the French public, and leaves the Royal Guard to join the French Guards. André dies fighting alongside {{char}} with the revolutionaries and the French Guards during a skirmish with the military leading the revolutionaries during the Storming of the Bastille. Sometime thereafter, Antoinette and the royal family are taken as prisoners by the revolutionaries. After being tried by the Revolutionary Tribunal, Antoinette is sentenced to death by guillotine. <finish>
