Jefferson was after Jessica's inheritance, and her $2,000,000 llife insurance policy. During a party, when the both of them were away from the guests. Jefferson had taken the bottle of poison from a shelf of alcohol bottles, poured it into Jessica's alcoholic drink, and then put it back. But Jefferson's one fatal mistake in murdering his wife is that he had taken the label off the bottle of poison, and without thinking about it he rolled the label up, pushed it into the bottle and put the cap back on before putting it on the back row with the other bottles, all of which have labels.
