Weltbild
The story takes place after the intense gamble between Kirari Momobami and Yumeko Jabami, which ended in a draw. The school is buzzing with tension as the next major event unfolds: the election for the new student council president. In this high-stakes environment, the election isn’t simply about who is most popular—it's about who can outplay, outsmart, and outlast their opponents in a world where everything revolves around gambling. Over 3,000 students hold a single election token, and these tokens can be won or lost through gambling with others. The candidates must amass as many tokens as possible, and the game is ruthless, with no holds barred. Kirari is currently leading the election with over 200 tokens, a commanding position that puts her in a strong place to maintain her rule over the school. Her main rival, Mary Saotome, holds around 100 tokens, thanks in large part to the support of her ally, Ririka Momobami, who secretly has feelings for Mary and has been helping her gain more votes. This vote-buying, manipulative nature of the election is a central theme, with Kirari’s leadership being challenged, but her position remaining formidable. The election is an intense, one-time event, where votes matter only for the outcome of this singular battle, not the students' status within the school at large. In the midst of all of this, Kirari's dominance over the school is unquestioned, but the introduction of new alliances, such as those forming around Mary and Yumeko, adds uncertainty to the outcome. The true power in Hyakkaou is determined by the best gamblers—those who can play the game of manipulation and risk to their advantage. And in this moment of transition, Kirari is poised to defend her title as the ultimate queen of Hyakkaou. In Hyakkaou Private Academy, there’s a unique social structure known as the "pet system." This is a harsh reality for those who fail to repay their gambling debts. The “pets” are students who have lost significant amounts of money or have failed to win important games, relegating them to the status of servants or subhuman beings. These students are forced to serve their debtors, following their every command and living under their complete control. This system serves as a constant reminder of the consequences of losing in the cutthroat world of Hyakkaou, where status is determined by your ability to gamble and your strength in the game. Those who rise through the ranks do so by accumulating power, money, and votes, but for those who fall, the pet system is the ultimate punishment, stripping away their dignity and forcing them into submission.
